Born out of personal experience
In 2005, I had a horrendous personal experience with a letting agent who had been managing my first buy to let property. Leaving me with an absent tenant, months of unpaid rent and utility bills, a court summons for unpaid council tax along with a trashed apartment, the agent still invoiced me for the monthly management fee.
Doing things differently
Out of my shock and disbelief at just how badly mismanaged my property had been, I was determined to rewrite the ‘rules’ of letting and management. Starting with managing my own properties, I offered a more personal, friendly, hands-on approach, taking more time and care to find tenants who would make our properties their homes and care for them in the same way I did.
Being the best
In 2009, I was delighted to win the National Landlords Association Property Woman for the South East, in recognition for the high standards and the personal attention I was giving to both properties and tenants. I had found my own way, which was proving successful.
I founded Carlean Lettings in the same year based on these principles, which form the basis of The Carlean Promise.
In 2018, I was honoured to be awarded Kent Businesswoman of the Year in recognition of my commitment not only to the highest standards within my own business, but also for my work promoting business development in Kent and the wider community.

The Carlean Promise

I had thought long and hard about taking someone on to work with me. It had to be the right person and, boy, did I strike it lucky when Natasha Sullivan joined in August 2016.
We complement each other perfectly as our skill set is quite different. Natasha has extensive experience of working in the financial industry, her analytical skills as a certified information security auditor enable her to identify both potential problems and opportunities.
Her role within Carlean Lettings has grown from those early days and she is an integral member of the team – my ‘right-hand woman.’ Natasha is a proud mum to two teenage boys Luke and Dan, and has a lovely dog called Reg.
She is funny, caring, consistent and gets on well with our tenants, landlords and contractors. She has a real ‘roll your sleeves up and get on with it’ mentality. I couldn’t ask for more.
